Botox erases wrinkles - and is also referred to as botulinim toxin left A. It is a diluted and purified material produced under controlled conditions in FDA approved laboratories by the same bacteria that creates botulism - a neurotoxin that causes paralysis. In medical doses, Botox is a safe, effective, low cost way to reduce or eliminate furrowed brow lines and forehead expression lines. Botox was approved by the FDA for use in 1989. It is an inexpensive way to get a minor and temporary (3 - 6 months) upper facelift.
Botox has also been used in Ophthalmology to treat conditions such as Strabismus (crossed eyes) and Blepharospasm (involuntary spasms, twitching and closing of the eyelids).
Using a very thin needle, Botox is injected into the spots where you want smoothing to occur. Once injected, Botox blocks impulses from the nerve to the facial muscles that cause expression lines. The result is that the muscles do not contract. After treatment, the skin above the treated muscles remains smooth while the untreated facial muscles continue to contract in a normal fashion.
Botox injections should be administered by a trained, qualified, and Board Certified plastic surgeon or an ocular plastic surgeon or an Ophthalmologist.
You can receive Botox treatments at either of our Newport Beach, CA or Laguna Hills, CA eye care clinics.
